“People with Disabilities and Mass Media” Events:
In order to disseminate the findings of the “People with Disabilities and Mass Media” Conferences around Greece, a series of events were organized by the Secretariat General of Communication – Secretariat General of Information (SGC-SGI) in the following cities:
- Kozani, June 5 2008, Kozani Exhibition Centre
- Tripoli, May 7 2008, “Apostolopoulos Cultural Centre”
- Komotini, April 13 2008, Rodopi-Evros Prefecture Palace
- Alexandroupolis, April 12 2008, Classical Grand Hotel Egnatia
- Heraklion, April 3 2008, Municipality of Heraklion, Androgeo Hall.
- Thessaloniki, March 5 2008, at the Conference Centre “J. Vellidis”
The events were organized within the framework of activities for People with Disabilities undertaken by the SGC - SGI, on the initiative of the Minister of State and Government Spokesman Theodoros Roussopoulos.The discussion focused on:
- The rights of People with Disabilities and Mass Media
- Issues of Disability in Mass Media: how the media shap e and form public opinion
The events included the screening of the following films, which received awards at the 1st International Documentary and Disability Festival - Emotion Pictures that took place at the Benaki Museum 16 – 18 June 2007, and was also organized by the SGC - SGI:
- " My eyes" by Erlend E. Mo, Denmark (2006) - 19 minutes
- "God in the Horizon" by the Emotion Pictures cinema workshop - 29 minutes
- "Phoenix Dance" by Karina Epperlein, USA (2006) - 16 minutes
3 December 2008: International Day of People with a Disability
EMOTION PICTURES is participating in the celebration of the International Day of People with a Disability with a television spot on all the major Greek networks that broadcast nationally.
